Default pre-paid?

So this is a theory question? I was in Sarnia, tried to set up an appointment with a cute blond, but she insisted on half payment by email transfer ahead of time?

I said no and walked away, this is too much electronic trail, for my SO to follow, and for cops?

Am i paranoid?

You'd likely just never hear from her again after the transfer. That would be more my concern than the electronic trail, although that could be a problem too if your SO monitors bank accounts.

If she's legit, then she's probably fed up with "no shows".
It's frustrating for all the ladies when a client books an appointment and just doesn't show up. In most cases it costs them money as they may have been able to book someone more serious. It's worse when business slows down and you have bills coming due.
In some cases, the lady may do a lot of prep work with hair, makeup and outfit only to be stuck waiting in front of the TV watching a rerun of Pawn Stars for 8th time.
Getting a prepayment is good insurance for all that.

However, it's not good business and I'd suggest avoiding anyone asking for a prepayment unless you are asking her to travel. Her risk of losing money increases with the time lost in traveling out of town so a small deposit becomes reasonable.
Risk and reward are what running any business is all about. If she wants guaranteed income, then work for someone who pays with a weekly paycheque.
Not only do you, as a client, risk a paper trail but you are taking a major risk in getting ripped off (as JeffD mentioned) and we all know how often guys get ripped off by providers. It's not like there is one bad apple in the bunch. Half the basket is rotten which is why this website has a review board!
You did the smart thing for multiple reasons.
Most likely she can get away with that in Sarnia, but she'd starve in London.

I have done pre-paid before, without a problem.

Both were girls from Toronto that were reputable. One an Agency girl (although I booked her outside) and another one from a different review site.

I booked well in advance.

The thought of being ripped off crossed my mind. She originally wanted all up front, I said no, she agreed to 40 of 120, I still walked, she wouldn?t budge.

I?ll meet some one this week at home. Sarnia issue.

I would Pre pay if it was an agency, but there rate now it seems

Pre-paying is an excellent way to get ripped off. ;)

Your right to be cautious, but there is no need to be paranoid.

Id say stay away from pre-payment from ladies that are not reputable (the ones with stellar reputations would have too much to lose to rip you off)

From experience deposits are generally asked for when an extended date is booked with a new client, for someone wants a date outside a ladies normal working hours, an outcall that has a longer travel fee or in advance of a tour in remote areas.

Sadly a lot of the ads asking for prepayments (especially the ones with hotel names in the ads and the ones offering to send extra pics once they receive payment) are generally scams.

A suggestion for future if you do want to book a lady who wants a pre-payment, send her the transfer but dont give her the password until she shows up for your date - a minute of her time to accept when you meet ensures she shows up and that she still gets her payment.

Again just my 2 cents from things I've learned along the way.

Happy New Year
xoxo
Emily

I'm all for this! Works well for both parties.

Personally I would never request a pre-payment; if I feel that a potential client may not be serious and become a no-show, I ask them for a reference. When they cannot give me one, I know my instincts were right and I avoid booking. My thing after many no-shows - it's not perfect but it helps. I also refuse to reschedule a past no-show as well. I think asking for part payment in advance is a bit tacky and not a good start to a date but I get it. To each is own they say!

I've seen a few providers asking for pre-payment. I see it as a red flag. What's to stop them from accepting payment and not following through on meeting?
