Gerald was obviously completely right in that she could have handled the situation much better from a customer service standpoint. It's also correct to assume that as an independent contractor, she can charge what she likes. It's in her own power to do that. It also needs to be done in a much less deceiving way.

I'll just say that the market powers could easily dictate her success or her downfall. She wants to supply a certain service at $300 per half hour, demand will likely fall drastically. She'll either adapt and change or she'll just be happy with her existing customer base if it somehow doesn't dwindle. Demand may further spiral if there's a further lack of genuine customer service.

Maybe the OP felt that they didn't want to cause a scene but I would have calmly re-iterated the rules and requested my money back. I would have given it a nice few more asks and I would have made the attendant aware that I wasn't leaving until I got it. I would have pressed it in further ways had I had to but I definitely wouldn't have left without my money if I had been in that situation. Don't f**k with a person's money when you have no acceptable reason to keep it.
I think that telling grownups like you may find on this board ( if you’re lucky ) that overcharging may have a negative impact on business is a little condescending but that’s just my feeling.
Stating the rules is always good for solving debates lol. Have you ever complained and
been told what the “policy” ( aka rule) is ? Nobody ever likes that when it comes from a business. I bet it goes over even worse when a customer explains what the policy is lol.
Once again you’re playing the “cause a scene” card which I guarantee will not go well no matter how tough you talk. It’s pretty difficult for a male to win in any confrontation with a female when two of you are behind closed doors. You may be able to leave and discuss with management at another time, but your rules and ultimatums are foolish. You’re in their premises and they can ask you to leave and no matter how justified you think you may be, you have to leave. Period. If they called the police you would leave or be removed and the police wouldn’t give a flying f*** about your money.
