Missing Person:
As her friends knocked on doors and posted notices, police had no updates Tuesday on a missing London woman.
Shelley Desrochers, 41, has not been seen by her friends for several weeks or been active on Facebook since Jan. 2, prompting fears about her safety.
Several of her friends said they canvassed east London streets Tuesday, posting photographs and asking store owners and others if they had seen Desrochers, but had received no solid tips.
London police said Tuesday they were continuing their investigation.
Desrochers’ friends say they’re frustrated police have not issued a public, missing persons notice.
But police spokesperson Const. Sandasha Bough said police received information about Desrochers Jan. 21 and have been investigating since.
“We are looking for her. We are looking into it,” Bough said. “The officer has been continuing the investigation, which includes things like canvassing the place last seen, looking to obtain any video and speaking with any of her known contacts.”
Police have a protocol to follow before issuing a missing persons notice, Bough said.
“We haven’t put out a media release as of yet, but that’s not to say we won’t in the future. We don’t put media releases out unless there’s a sense of urgency — for instance, it’s extremely cold outside or there’s a medical emergency.”
